February is a little bit longer this year as compared to the other years as 2012 is a Leap Year – which means that businesses have an additional day to seal deals to add to their monthly portfolio. However, as businesses look at the additional day as an opportunity to add value to their month of February, some outsourcing companies see this is an opportunity to ready their human resource department as there will be an influx of fresh graduates soon.
Outsourcing companies’ human resource department is probably the busiest among the industries across the wide spectrum available in the market as the issue of attrition in the business process outsourcing industry is yet to be resolved – although it is important to keep in mind that companies belonging under the outsourcing umbrella are implementing measures to keep their attrition rate at a minimum.
Despite the issue on attrition, companies still turn to solutions providers as they have realized that there are quite a lot of opportunities in outsourcing – you can read more about the opportunities in the industry in our previous blog article, Outsourcing’s Infinite Possibilities. There is a direct correlation between the interest of companies to outsource and the manpower available in the outsourcing destination especially because an increase in the demand for outsourcing services, the demand for qualified applicants also increases.
Oftentimes, companies have hiring seasons and this is usually before or after the month of graduation. But it seems that the outsourcing industry, most especially those companies who provide contact center services, does not have a hiring season as it happens year-round. During the last week of February, nPower, an energy company in the United Kingdom, announced that it has created new positions to accommodate 30 more applicants for its contact center. This announcement was made after nPower’s recruitment of 200 new staff in different locations. Also, not only is contact center hiring year-round, but they also conduct their recruitment in big numbers as it is most common that requirements for telemarketing or customer service support are usually outsourced in big groups – which could be the main reason why the contact center solutions is one of the most marketed services in the industry.
NCO Group Inc., a provider of business process outsourcing solutions headquartered in Pennsylvania, made an announcement in the middle of February that they it will be hiring staff to fill in an approximately 300 vacant positions for their contact center located in Missouri. The said recruitment was done to accommodate new projects signed by two Fortune 500 companies with NCO Group Inc. who needed assistance in their telesales, call center, technical support and accounts receivable processes.
With the recruitment announcements mentioned above, it is no longer surprising why contact centers conduct their recruitments year round, it is because of the large requirements by the companies that have decided to outsource their solutions. The industry is actually thankful for projects like these because it is usually the contracts like these, those involving large projects, are the ones spanning over a longer period of time.
